Last night we had the pleasure of welcoming prospective students and their families to our Open Evening. It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the friendly and supportive community that defines us here at Wickersley School and Sports College.
Our visitors explored a variety of interactive subject displays, each designed to provide a glimpse into our engaging learning environments. From Science experiments to Creative Arts showcases, the evening highlighted the diverse opportunities available to our students.
It was great to chat to the Y6s and their families, and we loved hearing their feedback:Â
“My favourite part has been seeing how big the school is and I’ve liked seeing PE and ICT. I’m excited to join Wickersley and I’m a bit nervous too, but all my friends are coming.” Jack, Y6, Bramley Grange Primary School
“I’ve been impressed by the school so far. I haven’t been in a secondary school for a long time and there’s so much to engage with. I was quite worried because we’re not an ‘academic family’ but the lessons seem so lively and engaging. I really like that there’s a three-day transition period in the summer too.” – Jack’s mum
“It’s big – there’ll be lots of classes that I’ll like. I’ve loved looking at the work of other students, especially the Macbeth displays in English. I think my favourite subject at secondary school is going to be Art.” – Ava, Y6, Bramley Sunnyside Junior School
“Everyone’s been so friendly and helpful. Koby chose Wickersley because some of his friends are coming here too, and he’s already really enjoyed seeing the PE and Spanish sessions. As parents, we’re pleased he made the choice himself – I was a student here years ago and it’s great to see the new buildings and facilities.” – Koby’s dad
“The school is very big and there is a good learning environment with nice teachers. I liked seeing the ICT activities, there are so many computers and faciltiies. I have enjoyed seeing my friends from primary school and I’m excited to join Wickersley and learn new things.” – Abdullah, Y6, Bramley Grange Primary School
