Y9 Worldviews Panel

The Religious Education department at Wickersley Partnership Trust recently hosted a worldviews panel for Year 9 students as part of the RE curriculum.

The department believes that visiting speakers provide valuable opportunities for students to broaden their understanding of different beliefs beyond the classroom. The panel included representatives from Buddhist, Christian, Muslim, and Humanist communities, offering both religious and non-religious perspectives.

During the session, speakers explored a range of topics, including describing their worldview and key beliefs, explaining how their views influence daily life, and sharing meaningful objects and important days connected to their beliefs.

Following the panel in the main hall, RE subject ambassadors led a Q&A session, asking questions prepared in advance by Year 9 students. The responses will be shared and explored further in RE lessons.

RE ambassador Megan said, “I liked how we got to learn about different viewpoints about different worldviews. This was an amazing experience, and I enjoyed learning about how the visitors live their lives. It was interesting to learn that none of them felt they perfectly followed their religious or non-religious guidance.”

The RE department would like to extend its thanks to all the visiting speakers who gave their time to enrich students’ learning.

Participating groups included Rotherham Interfaith Group, Sheffield Buddhist Centre, Humanists UK, and Stag Community Church.
