It was a real privilege to open our doors last night and welcome prospective students and parents/carers to our Y6 Open Evening. The evening truly showcased the welcoming, inclusive, and supportive community at the heart of Wickersley School.
The evening kicked off with inspiring presentations from Mr Hardcastle and Mrs Tipper, outlining what makes our school community so special. Visitors then explored our classrooms, took part in hands-on activities, spoke with current students, and discovered the broad range of opportunities waiting for them at WSSC.
We loved hearing some of the feedback from the Y6s and their families:
“It’s a really big school! All the subjects we saw looked really interesting – especially all the projects we saw in Design & Technology. I’m looking forward to getting to sports too!” – William, Y6 student
“It feels a bit intimidating bringing your Y6 to such a big school, but the SLT made us feel reassured that they will be welcomed at Wickersley and made ready for life after school.” – Y6 parent
As part of Wickersley Partnership Trust, our core mission is to ensure every student leaves us able and qualified to play their part in an ever-changing world. This ethos is reflected in our ambitious curriculum, which prepares students for lifelong success by instilling essential knowledge, practical skills, and strong core attributes. Underpinning this is the “Wickersley Way” – a shared set of values that develops independence, personal responsibility and resilience.
We hope all our visitors left with a clear picture of what makes our school such a fantastic place to learn and grow.
