HT1 Personal Development Update
This half term, students across Wickersley have been developing their confidence, resilience, and life skills through a wide range of Personal Development opportunities.
Sponsored Walk Success:
Students in Years 7-10 took part in our Sponsored Walk, completing an incredible 13 miles to raise money for Age UK, Rotherham RISE, Rotherham Hospice, and Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice. A fantastic effort for such important causes – well done to everyone who took part!
Lifesaving Skills:
Students from Years 7-11 and Sixth Form took part in First Aid sessions delivered by First Aid Schools, learning vital lifesaving skills and practical knowledge that could make a real difference.
Celebrating Achievement:
We’ve had an amazing 167 Wickersley Wins entries this half term – it’s brilliant to see so many students celebrating their successes and achievements. Keep them coming!
Learning Beyond the Classroom:
- Year 11 Geography students completed their Hornsea fieldwork, gaining valuable hands-on experience.
- Year 8 enjoyed outdoor activities at Ulley, with more trips to come for other forms and Year 10.
- Many Year 8 students also attended a Kingswood residential, taking part in team-building activities and confidence-boosting challenges.
European Day of Languages:
We celebrated the European Day of Languages with a creative Bake Off and themed activities across Years 7-9, including passports, treasure hunts, and cultural challenges – a fantastic celebration of languages and diversity!
Clubs and Creativity:
Extra-curricular clubs are in full swing!
- Students performed at the Rotherham Show and Riverside Recitals, while Wickersley Voices prepare for festive performances.
- Our new Crafts Club has proved a huge hit – great creativity on display already!
Sporting Highlights!
Our football teams have achieved outstanding results this term:
- Year 8 Boys – through to the Rotherham Cup Quarter Finals.
- Year 7 & 8 Girls – 9-0 victories in the English Schools FA Cup!
- Year 9 Boys – 3-2 comeback win against Kirk Balk.
- Under 15 Girls and Year 7 Boys – through to their next rounds.
A fantastic set of performances , well done!
Duke of Edinburgh:
54 students successfully completed their DofE qualifying expeditions this term – a brilliant achievement showcasing teamwork and determination.
Form Time Focus:
During tutor time, students explored British Values, resilience, mental and physical wellbeing, AI and the future, and reflected on World Mental Health Day.
It’s been a busy and inspiring start to the year – our students continue to impress us with their enthusiasm, achievements, and commitment to personal growth. Well done, everyone!
