Each year in October, students in Y7- 10 accomplish a wonderful achievement by completing the 13 miles of our local sponsored walk.
This has been a tradition since the 1960s with thousands of students across the years completing the annual walk. Many of the parents, guardians and carers will remember this wonderful experience, and perhaps how challenging it was. Students choose the charities they’ll support, and every year raise thousands of pounds to support both the school and the community which much needed funds.
The walk route takes in the historic sites of Roche Abbey and All Saints Church in Laughton-en-le-Morthen with many footpaths, fields and roads comprising the 13-mile route.
We were pleased to receive some very positive comments from locals in the area who said they supported and appreciated the student’s commitment. The students were a credit to the school, and we’re sure they will look back at this as an experience to remember.
Rotherham Girls Rugby Event
On Tuesday 23rd November Wickersley hosted a Rotherham girls rugby event and invited other schools from across Rotherham. Rotherham Titans and Rotherham Phoenix Rugby Club supported the event by providing the coaches for the activity. Overall, 74 students took part from seven different Rotherham Schools. The Schools represented were Aston, Wath, Wales, Rawmarsh, Wickersley, Oakwood, St Bernards. It was a great success and fantastic to see so many of our girls interested in playing Rugby.
