Our Y7 boys are through to the last 4 schools nationally after securing a hard-fought 2-0 victory.
After a scrappy 1st half which required grit and determination to ensure the game remained 0-0 at halftime, a positive start to the second half saw Wickerlsey take the lead 5 minutes in. A direct run from Bailey Miller saw his cross deflected past the keeper to make it 1-0.
The strong defensive performance continued and the hard work paid off with 3 minutes left on the clock. A through ball was latched onto by Oscar Wildman who used his strength to beat the defender to the ball and then was subsequently bundled over in the penalty area to earn Wickersley a penalty.
Bailey Miller stepped up to drill the ball home, low, past the keeper’s outstretched hand, sending Wickersley into the semi-finals. (Video below)
Well done boys!
